Argus X positioned above a seafloor drop weight

Argus family / Full ocean depth

Argus X

The full-ocean-depth member of the Argus family. Argus X places the same sensing, on-edge inference, storage, power management, and acoustic communication architecture on the abyssal seafloor in a housing designed for operation to 6,000 meters.

Platform overview

Persistent sensing at full ocean depth.

Argus X differs from A and B primarily in the housing required for the deepest operating environment. Its principal mission is still to descend, remain on the seafloor, and provide a stable point for sensing, inference, storage, and underwater communication over 12 to 24 months.

A mission-specific sensor stack feeds processing on the node. Power-aware models determine when sensors and inference functions should run, extract important information from continuous data, compress reports for constrained acoustic links, and retain the larger record for later offload. A node can work independently, corroborate an event with the field, or cue a UUV, ROV, or other underwater vehicle directly.

Deployment
Seafloor first, with drop-weighted and non-drop-weighted configurations in development; alternative placement available by mission.
Processing
Detection, classification, event selection, compression, power-aware scheduling, and local storage at depth.
Payloads
Mission-configurable acoustic, optical, chemical, environmental, and geophysical sensor stacks.
Communication
Acoustic node-to-node and node-to-vehicle messaging, with alerts and asset state represented in Nexus.

Full-depth infrastructure

Leave intelligence where the observations happen.

Argus X enables a persistent observing layer at sites that are otherwise visited briefly by expensive vessels and vehicles. The node can detect an event, preserve the evidence, and direct scarce mobile assets toward the location where their time is most valuable.

Pre-order / Planned delivery 2027

Reserve a mission-specific Argus X configuration.

Select the operating profile, deployment method, sensing payloads, communications, and quantity you need. Aphotic will review the requested configuration and respond with feasibility, production availability, and a formal quote.

01

Mission and deployment

Tell us where the node will operate and how it should be placed.

02

Sensor stack

Select the measurements required by the mission. Aphotic will confirm packaging, power, sampling rate, and depth compatibility.

03

Network and operating layer

Choose how the node should communicate with other assets and how operators should receive its data.

04

Organization and schedule

Provide enough context for Aphotic to prepare the configuration review and quote.
